“Why am I a filmmaker and not an ethnologist, journalist or psychologist? Perhaps because there is a little of all three professions in mine. What I like about documentary filmmaking is that things first and foremost pass through emotion: the story has to move me, and if it does, it is because, directly or indirectly, it concerns me. MA RUE DE L’ALE was a real challenge. How do you make a three-hour TV series about 165 metres?”
