Josie Goes to War

Josie, 23, works at a museum ticket office. Burdened by her parents’ debts, she tries to maintain some stability. When Quentin, a colleague, invites her to a Napoleonic historical reenactment, a magical world opens up for her: she discovers a new life in her regiment, dresses as a soldier, fires cannons, and spends her nights drinking beer. As the only woman on the battlefield, she attracts the attention of Paul, an American lookalike of Napoleon Bonaparte. Josie’s new friends dislike him – they cannot accept a foreign emperor and would rather see a Frenchman in his place. When Paul proposes that Josie be his Joséphine, she sees an opportunity to uncover his secrets and dethrone him. Reality or role-play? Boundaries blur as Josie embarks on a consuming passion with the emperor, tasting a power that grows ever greater.
