A portrait of Vijay, a Sri Lankan Tamil man and asylum seeker, who does everything he can to achieve his dream: becoming a cricket coach and umpire in Switzerland, a little-known sport played only at a recreational level. A Sandy Land explores the value of one ambition in contrast to another, in the country chosen as a land of refuge.
