One spring evening, Europe is getting ready to be swept up in the Eurovision final, while Samson, a young Swiss student, embarks on a carpool journey from \u00c9pinal to Lausanne. Alongside Jorge and M\u00e9lissa, a nomadic Belgian couple, and Achour, a taciturn soldier, he discovers fragments of their lives and their convictions. A new passenger, Tania, a Romanian woman travelling across the continent from one seasonal harvest to the next, joins the group. Each of them, in their own way, seems to be searching for meaning and freedom.<\/p>\n
A few days earlier in Lausanne, Samson reunites with Sofia, his partner, who is involved in an anti-capitalist protest movement. She tells him about their daring plan: a clandestine sit-in inside a major Swiss bank, where she hopes their love will fuel the action. But when Samson is called upon by his sick father, he chooses a different path. His journey to \u00c9pinal turns out to be a manipulation: his father has summoned him only to extort money from him. Disillusioned, Samson returns to Switzerland by carpool with Jorge, M\u00e9lissa and Tania.<\/p>\n
On a mountain road, a fatal accident occurs: distracted by his phone, Jorge loses control of the van, which plunges off a cliff. The crash is devastating. Samson, miraculously surviving, emerges from the wreckage and finds Tania, gravely injured and hanging from a tree. He frees her, but she dies shortly afterwards, at the Swiss border. Exhausted and haunted by guilt and grief, Samson takes refuge in a suburb lit up by the glow of the Eurovision spectacle. His calls for help are drowned out by the indifference of spectators absorbed in the show.<\/p>\n
In another reality, Sofia and her comrades\u2019 action erupts into a confrontation. The police violently suppress the protesters, and Samson, in one final burst of revolt, appears to free Sofia from Achour\u2019s grasp, revealing another version of himself: a stronger Samson, reminiscent of the mythological hero.
